Founded in 1998 by Dr. Christophe Guy and Thierry
Pagé, ODOTECH is a spin-off of the École Polytechnique
de Montréal and a member of the Polyvalor Group. The company's
mission is to fully develop and implement the technologies, expertise
and know-how originated by École Polytechnique in the field
of odors and atmospheric pollution.
First steps
ODOTECH developed the ODILE olfactometer and perfected
it over several generations to its current status at 1 to 2 000
000, its dynamic dilution range is the largest in the world.
Simultaneously, ODOTECH gradually expanded its staff
and capability to provide odor-related services in Quebec. Using
its ODILE™ olfactometer and the ODOFLUX™ sampling chamber
it had developed, ODOTECH became the pre-eminent supplier of odor
impact studies, risk assessment and odor control expertise to the
industries and municipalities of Quebec. Tanneries, packers, water
treatment plants, food processors, composters, waste disposal sites,
fertilizer plants, livestock farms, wood treatment operators, and
chemical manufacturers are among the clients served.
Worldwide reputation
ODOTECH's reputation among experts grew as the company's
international client list expanded. Universities in several countries
began using ODOTECH's olfactometers for advanced research. By 2001,
ODOTECH had completed its TROPOS IMPACT© atmospheric odor dispersion
modeling software, and it was being asked to help draft odor regulations
and standards in several jurisdictions.
